Why Adopt A House Rabbit?
House rabbits make wonderful pets. Like cats, dogs, and other family pets, house rabbits are affectionate, loving, and playful. Each has their own unique personality, and house rabbit owners commonly describe living with their rabbit as a constantly-evolving relationship – you are always learning something new about your furry companion.
Rabbits are often available at local pet stores, but a great alternative is adoption. Everyone knows that there are hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats available for adoption from shelters and rescue organizations, but the plight of the homeless house rabbit is not as well known. Unfortunately, like all house pets, rabbits face being surrendered to shelters or abandoned when owners can no longer afford to support them, or just decide that they no longer want them. There are wonderful, deserving house rabbits waiting for a forever home every day in shelters around the country. And unfortunately, many of those animals will be euthanized if no home is found and no rescue has space to house them. When you choose to adopt, you are saving a life while getting a wonderful companion for you and your family.
Harvey’s House Rabbit Rescue and Sanctuary is here to help you learn about the joys of adding a house rabbit to your family, and appreciate what is required to be a good “bunny parent.”
